Ghaiath Hussein is a Sudanese physician, bioethicist, activist and professional trainer. He was born in Khartoum, Sudan in 1976. He had all his pre-university education in Egypt where he returned to Sudan to pursue his university studies in Alzaem Alazhary University Faculty of Medicine. After his MBBS in 2002 and clinical training (2003-2004) he worked in the Department of Research, which was within the Directorate General of Health Planning, Policy and Research until 2006. In 2006, he worked shortly with the WHO office in Nyala, South Darfur, then moved to Saudi Arabia as epidemiology doctor. He got married in 2007 to Hajir Salih, then he completed his masters in bioethics in 2008 at the University of Toronto Joint Centre for Bioethics as the first Sudanese to get this degree.

He returned to Sudan in 2008, then returned to Saudi Arabia as epidemiologist. The major career shift was when he became an assistant professor of bioethics at King Fahd Medical City's Medical College in 2010.

He has been working on giving consultations, lectures, and public talks on medical ethics and patients' rights. He has a series of recorded videos, conference proceedings and publications, mostly on ethics in the developing countries.

Currently, he is a PhD researcher at the Univeristy of Birmingham, UK under the supervision of Prof.s Angus Dawson and Heather Draper. His project is on the ethical issues related to the conduct of research in conflict settings - case study from Darfur, west Sudan.
